Tottenham Hotspur FC Training Centre Renovation of Academy Pitches 9 – 11

June 2025

Fineturf were delighted to be invited back to Tottenham’s Hotspur Way Training Centre in June 2025 to complete the renovation and reconstruction of Academy Pitches 9-11 – the project the latest in a longstanding partnership.

At the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, Fineturf’s experienced operatives moved in to commence works starting with the removal of the existing turf surfaces. The three pitches were koro’ed and all of the peripheral areas such as pitch edges were stripped with a turf cutter. Everything outside of the pitch footprint was also dug off and removed. Finally, all existing irrigation heads were removed and capped off before the reconstruction could then commence.

While the upper rootzone on the perimeter areas was replaced, the three pitches were cultivated and raked with the BLEC Rota-Rake before 100mm of upper rootzone was applied. This was then levelled with pinpoint precision using a laser-grader. New Hunter sprinklers were fitted across the whole project area to provide a reliable and robust source of irrigation and ensure the new surfaces remain playable and safe in all conditions.

The Tottenham grounds team then applied the soil amendments and pre-seed fertilisers before Fineturf completed with the reconstruction with the sowing of high-performance DLF grass seed in three directions using the BLEC Turfmaker.

Hand finishing of the perimeters ensured that the completed project will provide a top-quality playing surface for the next generation of footballing talent.

Another project successfully delivered to the highest of standards.
