Manchester United Football Club Carrington, Littleton Road and The Cliff - End of Season Renovations

After successfully completing end of season renovations across all four Manchester United sites in 2024, Fineturf were once again proud to be entrusted with the works at Carrington, Littleton Road and The Cliff 2025.

The pitches at these venues incorporate a range of Desso GrassMaster, Fibre Sand, and sand ameliorated surfaces. While this creates some variations in approach, the majority of operations began with surface removal using the Koro Field Top Maker, carried out in two directions. Any debris was then cleared away with our Trilo SG400 sweeper collector before seeding commenced, with passes made in four directions using our dimple seeder. Then 60–100 tonnes of high-quality sports sand was supplied and applied per pitch.

In most cases, 3–4 tonnes of Profile TM Soil Amendment was also introduced, which together with the sand and seed, was integrated into the profile through deep aeration to 180mm. Where additional work was needed, our Toro ProCore provided further aeration at 60mm depth and 50mm centres. Another two passes of seeding followed, before dragmatting in four directions was carried out to work the seed into the profile and create the best possible germination environment. Finally, a 10.0.8 pre-seed fertiliser was applied at a rate of 35g per m² to encourage strong early growth.
