Nottingham Tennis Centre Steam Sterilisation
August 2026
Early August 2026 saw Fineturf on site at Nottingham Tennis Centre, home of the Rothesay Nottingham Open, to carry out a steam sterilisation programme on the Show Court.
Timed for the close of the grass court season, the visit forms part of the venue's post-tournament renovation, giving the court time to recover and re-establish before competitive tennis returns next summer.
The team deployed Fineturf's custom-built steam unit to deliver targeted heat treatment across the full playing surface, achieving 85°C in the top 65mm of the soil profile for one hour and at least 60°C deeper into the rootzone — enough to control weeds, pests and disease without a single chemical application.
Working a single show court gave Fineturf's team the flexibility to fit the treatment around Nottingham Tennis Centre's wider renovation schedule, so the ground staff could move straight on to seeding and recovery work behind them.
The Nottingham visit adds to a growing list of UK grass court venues where Fineturf now delivers the same sterilisation standard used on the Championship courts at Wimbledon, extending that approach beyond SW19 and into the wider domestic grass court circuit.
