Leicester Racecourse Drainage and Gravel Banding Works

During August 2026, Fineturf carried out a programme of drainage installation and gravel banding works at Leicester Racecourse, covering the Two Mile Hurdle, the Four Furlong marker and the Round Course. The works comprised the installation of additional main and lateral drainage, continuing on from drainage previously installed by Fineturf, together with gravel banding over both existing and newly installed drainage runs.

Two Mile Hurdle – Main and Lateral Drainage

At the Two Mile Hurdle, Fineturf installed additional main and lateral drains across three separate sections, each continuing on from previous main and lateral drainage works carried out by Fineturf in this area. The new drainage was tied in to the existing systems to extend coverage and improve consistency of drainage performance along this part of the course.

Four Furlong – Gravel Banding

At the Four Furlong marker, Fineturf carried out gravel banding over the existing drainage installation, reinstating the banding to maintain surface permeability and support the performance of the drains beneath.

Round Course – Gravel Banding

On the Round Course, Fineturf carried out gravel banding over the drainage works installed in 2025, refreshing the banding over these established drainage runs to sustain their effectiveness.
