Gloucestershire County Cricket Club Cricket Square Renovation

September 2025

Fineturf recently carried out comprehensive end-of-season renovation works at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, working alongside Head Groundsman Sean Williams to restore and rejuvenate the club’s main cricket square ahead of the 2026 season.

The works began with a full Koro of the square, removing all existing vegetation, thatch, and surface slime to provide a clean and consistent base for renovation. Following this, the square was scarified in three directions, thoroughly cleaning off debris and ensuring a well-prepared surface for seed and loam integration.

We then applied MM50 grass seed at 30 g/m², followed by the supply and application of Ongar Loam to rebuild the playing profile. Once the loam was evenly distributed, we applied a further 30 g/m² of MM50 grass seed to promote strong and uniform germination. The surface was then luted and drag matted to achieve a smooth, even finish, before applying 6.5.18 fertiliser at 35 g/m² to support healthy early establishment.

All works were completed efficiently and to Fineturf’s high standards, with the site left clean and tidy upon completion. This renovation has provided Gloucestershire County Cricket Club with a well-prepared and professionally finished square, ready to deliver first-class playing performance for the 2026 season.
