Wokingham Bowls Club Green Renovation

September 2018

Following the end of a busy season at Wokingham Bowls Club we were asked to renovate one of their bowling greens.

The existing turf was stripped and sand slits excavated at 1m centres, perpendicular to the existing lateral drains. The drains were backfilled with a 75mm layer of 2-6mm gravel and topped up with 70/30 rootzone.

The playing surface was cultivated and laser graded. 40 tonnes of sports sand was spread and ameliorated before making a second pass with the laser grader.

The ground was prepared for seed with a stone rake and hand rakes. 6:5:18 fertiliser was applied at 40g/m2 and Limagrain MM10 grass seed sown at 60g/m2.

During the project we also installed new HC4 treated timber edging around the green.
