AELTC Qualifying and Community Sports Centre, Roehampton Steam Sterilisation Programme — Show Court and First Practice Court
July 2026
Fineturf returned to the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club's Qualifying and Community Sports Centre in Roehampton in July 2026, carrying out a steam sterilisation programme on the Show Court and First Practice Court.
The visit builds on the steam sterilisation work delivered on the Championship courts at Wimbledon and follows Fineturf's first sterilisation programme at Roehampton in 2025, continuing the AELTC's move toward reduced chemical intervention across all of its venues.
Fineturf's custom-built, highly manoeuvrable steam unit was used to treat both courts, holding a temperature of 85°C in the top 65mm of the soil profile for a full hour, with heat penetrating to at least 60°C further into the rootzone. The treatment leaves the ground free of weeds, pests and disease ahead of the new grass crop being established.
With the Qualifying Competition courts at Roehampton feeding directly into the Wimbledon Championships, maintaining the same standard of turf husbandry here as on Centre Court and No.1 Court is a priority for the AELTC and one Fineturf is proud to help deliver year on year.
The July visit marks the second consecutive year Fineturf has carried out this work at Roehampton, reinforcing a partnership built on trust, consistency and a shared commitment to sustainable turf management.
