- WHAT WE DO:
Fineturf have completed new sports ground construction and redevelopment projects on many sports turf surfaces. Fineturf's ability to carefully plan and complete projects of this nature can be seen below.
Sports ground construction contracts can involve single pitches, multiple pitch training facilities and large local authority areas. All earthworks and drainage works are carried out using Fineturfs own plant machinery. The surface will be constructed using a 70/30 rootzone and in some cases addtional sports sand. Final preparation is completed with a tractor towed Blec laser grader and Blec stonerake. The finished surface is sown using Limagrain MM sports seed or turfed with our own sports turf.
Fineturf have extensive experience in the construction and redevelopment of golf courses. Fineturf Volvo 360 diggers and skilled operators can accurately shape tees, greens and bunker faces. Laser graders and stone rakes are available for final surface preparation prior to seeding or turf installation.
Other services include irrigation installation, drainage, tree planting, bridge building, cart paths and driving range construction.
Bowling green reconstruction begins by removing the existing surface with the Koro field top maker or Blec Combinator. The ground is then cultivated prior to accurately levelling the surface with a tractor towed laser grader. Final bowling green preparation involves hand raking the surface. The sports ground construction is finished with hand laid small roll sports turf.
At the end of a cricket season it is essential to restore a worn wicket. We are highly experienced in this process which involves the Koro field top maker to level the existing surface, remove annual meadow grass, older rye grass and thatch. Deep scarification with a Graden prunes roots and improves lateral growth. Following this, loam and seed are applied prior to drag matting and luting to ensure final levels are true. During the sports ground construction it is also recommended to carry out deep tine aeration to relieve compaction and encourage new root growth.
Race course reconstruction involves a number of stages. The existing surface is stripped using the Koro field top maker and a grass harrow and vacuum used to collect any remaining debris. The ground is then cultivated before being accurately levelled using a laser guided grader. Finally, Advanta seed is sown with a Blec or Amazon seeder.
