Fineturf Grow the Cricket Outfield Turf for Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham
Trent Bridge Cricket Ground has seen extensive reconstruction and redevelopment works and has played host to some of the Twenty/20 World Cup Cricket matches this summer. Working for industry cricket specialist, Steven Pask Limited, Fineturf were chosen to custom grow the specialist turf for the Trent Bridge outfield. This included 18,000 square metres of our turf farm being set aside for the sole purpose of growing the turf. The turf was grown on a pure Messingham 35 Sand base which would allow the newly installed drainage system to operate to maximum effect.
The turf was grown using a specially selected grass seed mixture from seed producers Limagrain. The special Ryegrass, Fescue and Smooth Stalked Meadow grass mix, selected from the STRI top cultivar listings, was formulated to produce a dense, hard wearing sward that has a very strong root structure. The mixture was also treated with Headstart, a Seaweed based treatment that helps ensure a fast, even germination.
Once the turf was mature, and Steven Pask Limited had completed their works, Fineturf harvested the turf into big roll (turf rolls covering 26m2 each) and then transported it to its new home in Nottingham. Fineturf then spent a number of weeks relaying the turf ready for the new season.
Simon concluded “It was an honour to work at Trent Bridge and to be chosen by Steven Pask Limited, you can really appreciate the grass at its best now it has had time to grow in its new environment”.

Steven Pask Limited was the principal contractor and Fineturf grew the turf especially for this project and carried out the turf installation.
